Porto Montenegro<\/strong> is the premier marina<\/strong> village and yacht homepor<\/strong>t in the Mediterranean<\/strong>. This state-of-the- art facility\u00a0has been designed to cater to the advanced needs of all yachts<\/strong>, their owners, guests and crew with specific\u00a0infrastructure for the largest yachts<\/strong> afloat.<\/p>\n

At the moment, the marina<\/strong> offers over 250 berths, and on-land amenities. Thanks to expansion works, Porto Montenegro<\/strong> will soon become\u00a0the Mediterranean<\/strong>\u2019s leading luxury yacht homeport<\/strong> and marina<\/strong> village.<\/p>\n

Marina\u2019s development<\/h2>\n

The marina<\/strong> opened with 85 berths in summer 2009, and has since grown\u00a0to the current capacity of 250 berths, of which 54 are for yachts<\/strong> over 30m.\u00a0The number of large yachts<\/strong> under construction has more than tripled over the past ten years.\u00a0Few marinas<\/strong> in the world can accommodate superyachts<\/strong> (vessels over 30 metres in length).\u00a0Due to overwhelming demand, Porto\u00a0Montenegro<\/strong> has started construction to\u00a0double its current marina<\/strong> capacity by 2014.<\/p>\n

From April 2013 to May 2015, phase two construction works to double the\u00a0size of the marina<\/strong> will be in operation. In summer 2014, 173 new berths will\u00a0be complete, taking the total to 423. Upon completion of the expansion in\u00a0summer 2015, the marina<\/strong> will offer 477 berths, taking the total number of\u00a0berths for yachts<\/strong> 30m and over to 124 (max. capacity of 150m LOA).<\/p>\n

Porto Montenegro\u00a0<\/strong>will provide the highest level of service and amenities for vessels of all sizes \u2013 including nearby drydock\u00a0and repair facilities. In addition, the development will create a vibrant coastal community of\u00a0waterfront residences, hotels and restaurants, shopping, water sports and leisure facilities.<\/p>\n

Marina Facilities<\/h2>\n

Porto Montenegro<\/strong> lies within\u00a0one of the world\u2019s most idyllic nautical playgrounds: the Bay of Kotor<\/strong>. A UNESCO World Heritage\u00a0site, the Bay of Kotor<\/strong> is Europe\u2019s southernmost fjord and the largest natural harbour in the\u00a0eastern Mediterranean<\/strong>. Its 100 kilometres of coastline twist inland from the open waters of the\u00a0Adriatic on the southern edge of the Dalmatian coast.<\/p>\n

With Venice and\u00a0the Croatian archipelago to the north, Corfu and the Ionian Islands to the south and the eastern\u00a0coast of Italy to the west, the bay also offers easy and direct access to some of the best cruising\u00a0in the Mediterranean<\/strong> basin.\u00a0Porto Montenegro<\/strong> is within a three-hour flight of most European capitals and served by three\u00a0international airports. This ease of access extends\u00a0waterside, with the marina<\/strong> just a day\u2019s sail from some of the Mediterranean<\/strong>\u2019s best cruising\u00a0grounds, including the Croatian islands, making it the ideal starting point for yacht<\/strong> charters.<\/p>\n

Besides its oustanding location, the marina<\/strong> offers mooring facilities to homeport vessels as well as those navigating\u00a0Montenegro<\/strong>\u2019s waters on a temporary vignette. On-site duty-free fuelling and 24-hour Yacht<\/strong> Assist\u00a0will be complemented by a nearby superyacht<\/strong> refit and repair facility, founded in partnership with\u00a0Adriatic Shipyard Bijela.<\/p>\n

This integral component in Porto Montenegro<\/strong>\u2019s role as a year-round\u00a0homeport will allow yachts<\/strong> nearby access to a respected refit service provider. The refit and\u00a0maintenance facility is expected to be operational by 2014.<\/p>\n

Other onsite facilities include yacht<\/strong> brokers\u2019 offices, Freedom Maritime chandlery with\u00a0comprehensive logistics assistance for any chandlery, safety and engineering needs and Porto\u00a0Montenegro Yacht<\/strong> Club that hosts a variety of social events, regattas, sailing competitions and\u00a0sailing schools.<\/p>\n

Last but not least,\u00a0Porto Montenegro<\/strong> became an official port of entry in summer 2010, allowing customers to do\u00a0customs clearance in a hassle- free and speedy manner.<\/p>\n
