Continuing the celebration of novel ladies\u2019 timepieces for this \u201cYear of the Woman\u201d, Richard Mille<\/strong>\u2019s ongoing and fruitful association with the famous Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh<\/strong> encompasses a new jewelry creation with the tourbillon RM 51-01 Tiger and Dragon-Michelle Yeoh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This novel artistic creation celebrates her new film \u2018Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II<\/strong>\u2019, due to be released in 2014, in which Michelle Yeoh<\/strong> returns to the role of her well known character, Yu Shu Lien.<\/p>\n

Tiger and Dragon<\/h2>\n

Richard Mille<\/strong> and Michelle<\/strong>\u2019s collaboration began in 2011 with the creation of the RM 051 Phoenix Tourbillon<\/strong>, a symbolic timepiece in which she was intimately active. Michelle Yeoh<\/strong> desired to reiterate the concept of forms and shapes integrated within the watch\u2019s movement, this time with a visual scene centered on the symbolic themes of the Tiger and the Dragon<\/strong>, with a tiger and a dragon clutching the tourbillon movement.<\/p>\n

Created from 3N red gold, the figures are carved and incised entirely by hand. Special miniature tools were specifically made for the specific artistry required in the physical realization of these two creatures. To increase the realism of these special animals, a long and painstaking process of hand finished micro painting was executed, also including the unseen parts of these two marvelous entities.<\/p>\n

The tiger and dragon<\/strong> have deeply influenced Asian culture. The Tiger, considered as \u2018Yang\u2019 supremacy, therefore male, was viewed as a demon hunter. For the military, the tiger, symbol of courage, was represented on shields and weapons. The dragon, meanwhile, is a very common symbol in China, taking on many complex traits, as an emblem that can unify a group, or a larger nation. Today we closely associate it with prosperity and happiness.<\/p>\n

With a power reserve of 48 hours, indicated by a red line between 10 and 11 o\u2019clock, the grade 5 titanium movement includes a torque limiting crown to protect the watch from possible overwinding.<\/p>\n

The RM 51-01 Tiger and Dragon-Michelle Yeoh<\/strong> will be available in a limited edition of 20 pieces in 18K white or red gold.<\/p>\n

This year the daring, young Swiss watch brand, named after its founder Richard Mille<\/strong>, has made an unprecedented commitment to women by offering a wider and more enticing range of watches for the female wrist. The brand declared 2014 the \u2018Year of the Woman\u2019, with four of the 10 new watches it presented at the Salon International de Haute Horlogerie (or SIHH) designed for the fairer sex including the RM 51-01 Tiger and Dragon \u2013 Michelle Yeoh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
