In 1995, McLaren<\/strong> won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Against all the odds, McLaren<\/strong> took the chequered flag, finishing 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 13th.\u00a02015 marks the 20th anniversary of this historic victory, and to celebrate, McLaren Special Operations<\/strong> (MSO) has announced a new, limited edition model, the McLaren 650S Le Mans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Design and performance<\/h2>\n

Developed by McLaren Special Operations<\/strong>\u00a0(MSO) in consultation with none other than Peter Stevens, the celebrated British designer who styled the original McLaren<\/strong> F1, the\u00a0McLaren 650S Le Mans\u00a0<\/strong>is unmistakably inspired by the famous No.59 F1 GTR that won in 1995 \u2013 one of the \u2018crown jewels\u2019 in McLaren<\/strong>\u00a0heritage collection, and on permanent display at the McLaren<\/strong> Technology Centre.<\/p>\n

Peter Stevens describes the result as \u2018a fantastic homage\u2019 to the 1995 Le Mans winning car.<\/p>\n

Hence the new McLaren 650S Le Mans<\/strong> will be finished in a metallic Sarthe Grey exterior paint colour, and will feature unique \u2018Le Mans Edition\u2019 lightweight wheels. Functional enhancements include a roof-mounted\u00a0engine induction\u00a0\u2018snorkel\u2019 and subtle louvres on the front wings, both iconic details found on the original F1 GTR.<\/p>\n

The new McLaren 650S Le Mans<\/strong> also features a carbon fibre front splitter, rear bumper and Airbrake, plus MSO-developed extended side blades and rear diffuser. Inside, the 650S Le Mans<\/strong> is finished in leather and Alcantara, and features race inspired seats with Le Mans logos stitched into the headrests.<\/p>\n

To top it all off, the McLaren 650S Le Mans\u00a0<\/strong>reaches 60 mph from a standstill in less than 3 seconds and carries on to a top speed of 207 mph.<\/p>\n

With a price tag of roughly $335,000, the\u00a0McLaren 650S Le Mans<\/strong> will be limited to only 50 production models.\u00a0And if you buy one, you\u2019ll be invited to a special 20th anniversary celebration at Le Mans courtesy of McLaren<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
