Amongst the local legends that enchant visitors as they walk through its labyrinth of\u00a0little streets, the story of the Bastide de Gordes<\/strong> starts a new chapter, as standard-bearer\u00a0of Provencal culture over the Alpilles.<\/p>\n

The extensive building project involved more than 150 people for several months.\u00a0Built on the medieval ramparts, the 16th century Bastide has undergone a total\u00a0transformation, successfully in keeping with its surroundings and the village\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

La Bastide de Gordes is having a revamp<\/h2>\n

La Bastide de Gordes<\/strong>, Leading Hotels of the World, closed\u00a0its doors from Monday 6th October 2014 until Friday 5th June 2015, for huge renovation and refurbishment program. A total revamp with many new discoveries in store…<\/p>\n

Having undergone painstaking refurbishment work, la Bastide de Gordes<\/strong> hotel now boasts ten thousand\u00a0square metres of living space:\u00a040\u00a0rooms and suites, 3\u00a0restaurants, 4\u00a0swimming\u00a0pools, a 800 square meter spa, 5\u00a0conference and function rooms, – one of which is\u00a0used for weddings, opening onto French formal gardens, – stepped gardens and 7\u00a0terraces, one of which is considered to be the most beautiful in Europe.<\/p>\n

In order to preserve the beautiful views onto\u00a0the valley, and create a true haven of peace and tranquillity, a large vaulted tunnel\u00a0lined with bookcases was built into the rock. This makes it easy for guests to wander\u00a0from one building to another, allowing them the privacy of walking to the Sisley Spa\u00a0(which is to undergo a total relook next season) in their bathrobe should they so wish.<\/p>\n

La Bastide de Gordes<\/strong> is already spectacular from the\u00a0outside, but from the moment you pass through the\u00a0entrance door the journey becomes breathtaking.<\/p>\n

Resembling a family castle passed down through the generations, the d\u00e9cor was thought\u00a0up by architect and interior designer Christophe Tollemer, who also worked his magic\u00a0at les Airelles, le Chalet d\u2019Ormello and le Chalet de Pierres.<\/p>\n

Since\u00a0January 2014, the design team has scoured\u00a0the whole of France, visiting auction houses\u00a0and big antiques dealers in Paris and\u00a0Italy to turn this hotel into a castle where one truly feels at home.<\/p>\n

No two rooms or suites are the same. Indian stretched canvasses, typical regional fabrics,\u00a0pastoral toiles de Jouy from Pierre Frey and other prestigious fabric designers, give the\u00a0impression of entering the private home of a grandmother from Provence, who would\u00a0have collected ceramics and portraits all her life.<\/p>\n

As a treat for your tastebuds, renowned Chef Pierre Gagnaire will be at the helm of the gastronomic restaurant, welcoming you to the warmest of settings.Chez P\u00e8ir (restaurant that will open on May 4, 2016), the 3 starred chief honours Provencal cuisine with great meals like red pepper bavarois with mint, Rougette de Montpellier lettuce or wild rice from Camargue. Along with renowned pastery chiefs such as Cyril Renaud, they magnify our plates with presence, using castle-like dishes and accessories. Then, l’Orangerie and La Citadelle, under the guidance of Edouard Henry, will let you travel through the region’s tastes with a modern touch.<\/p>\n

And to round off the new developments, an elegant reception lounge overlooking the valley will play host to your events.<\/p>\n
