Beverly House: the Godfather’s house for sale

The Beverly House is back on the market for $135 million, the highest-priced residence for sale in California, according to Hilton Hyland, its listing agency.

A legendary house

Built by banking executive Milton Getz, Beverly House was bought by Marion Davies in 1946 for William Randolph Hearst, historical figure and most powerful publishing magnate of the 20th century.

In addition to hosting John and Jacqueline Kennedy during their honeymoon, Beverly House also played a character in the classic movies ”The Godfather” and ”The Bodyguard.”

The current owner is attorney and investor Leonard M. Ross.

28 bedrooms & 36 bathrooms

Sited on approximately 6 flat acres, the legendary Beverly House is located on a private knoll of Beverly Hills, 3 blocks from Sunset Boulevard.

Built of terra-cotta stucco, Beverly House exhibits a perfect combination of Spanish and Italian style, with intricately carved ceilings and paneled walls, French doors, balconies, arched ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows

Beverly House features cascading waterfalls, a large pool and Venetian columns beyond the pool house enhance the Italian style of the house.

Inside now, Beverly House offers 28 bedrooms, 36 bathrooms, a 50 foot entry hall with loggia, a living room with 22 foot high arched and detailed ceilings, and the famed library with hand carved woodwork and staircase leading to second story wrap-around balcony and bookshelves.
