AMAALA: An Architectural Vision Shaped by the Red Sea
Along the still-preserved shores of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia, AMAALA is doing more than creating a destination. The project introduces a new way of thinking about luxury architecture, where every line, material, and volume is designed in direct dialogue with the surrounding landscape.
Conceived as a holistic experience, AMAALA is guided by a simple yet demanding principle: letting nature lead the design.
An Architecture Born from Its Environment
In the world of contemporary luxury, architecture often leans toward statement and spectacle. AMAALA takes a different path.
Here, villas do not dominate the coastline; they merge with it, extending towards the sea like natural terraces shaped over time. Resorts are carefully inserted into the folds of cliffs and coves, while pathways follow the natural curves of the terrain rather than altering them.
This philosophy reflects a deeper understanding of what it means to build within such a rare ecological environment. The Red Sea is home to one of the most pristine and diverse coral ecosystems in the world. An environment the designers of AMAALA have clearly chosen to respect.
Leading Names in Global Architecture
To bring this vision to life, AMAALA has collaborated with some of the world’s most renowned architectural firms, including Foster + Partners, BIG, HKS, ACPV, John Heah, Unscripted Architects, and Cracknell, alongside Saudi and environmental experts.
Each project expresses its designer’s identity while contributing to a cohesive overall vision. The Yacht Club, for instance, was designed to evoke the movement of sails, its lines appearing in constant motion, perfectly aligned with the harbor it overlooks.

Corallium draws inspiration from nearby coral reefs, with an organic and generous architecture reminiscent of underwater formations. Meanwhile, the Jayasom and Clinic La Prairie resorts are organized around open pavilions and inner courtyards. An approach rooted in local architectural traditions, reinterpreted with contemporary comfort and refinement.

A Commitment to Responsible Luxury
AMAALA’s environmental ambition goes far beyond conventional commitments. The destination will operate entirely on renewable energy, avoiding nearly half a million tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. Water is carefully managed, and landscaping relies exclusively on native, climate-adapted plants.
These decisions are not secondary. They are fundamental to the project itself: preserving one of the world’s most untouched coastlines means protecting what makes AMAALA truly unique.
What Awaits the First Travelers
In its initial phase, AMAALA will offer more than 1,400 rooms across eight resorts, with nearly 3,000 additional rooms planned in the long term. Among the most anticipated developments are the Corallium Marine Life Institute, designed by Foster + Partners, combining scientific research with marine discovery, and the AMAALA Yacht Club, set to become a global reference in luxury yachting.
At its core, AMAALA promises more than a stay by the sea. It offers an experience where every element, down to the first architectural line, has been designed to allow each moment to be fully lived.
