The Alpina Gstaad, a new level of distinction
Opened on 2 December 2012, The Alpina Gstaad is the first newly built luxury hotel in Gstaad in 100 years. Set in a prestigious hilltop location in Oberbort, just five minutes from the centre of the exclusive village of Gstaad, The Alpina Gstaad brings a new level of distinction to Gstaad’s luxury hotel scene.
A blend of Swiss tradition and the highest luxury standards
The Alpina Gstaad will offer a new level of distinction and authenticity. The hotel will be a blend of local traditions and global contemporary inspiration with the discretion and attention to detail reflecting Swiss luxury standards. Located amidst a 20,000 square meter exclusive hill top area in Oberbort, the hotel is 5 minutes from the centre of Gstaad village and overlooks the beautiful Saanenland.
The Alpina Gstaad, which has been awarded a Five Star Superior Hotel rating by Hotellerie Suisse, features 56 spacious rooms and suites, impeccably decorated with a combination of modern design and traditional Swiss elements. The exterior takes its inspiration from typical Swiss architecture, with its four towers, dormers and wooden balconies. Moreover, these 56 rooms and suites with magnificent views of the Bernese Alps offer a modern yet distinctive Swiss alpine guest experience which is warm, authentic, discerning and beyond expected!
In addition to the luxurious bedrooms, The Alpina Gstaad also features a wine tasting room, cigar room, private cinema and two further restaurants offering traditional Swiss or modern European menus.
Complementing the design of The Alpina Gstaad, the Six Senses Spa offers a secluded, warm and indulgent environment for guests. This 2,000 square meter spa with its 12 chalet style treatment rooms seamlessly combines the Alpine influences of the surrounding environment with eastern accents to reflect the origin of the Six Senses treatments. The Six Senses Spa boasts both indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness centre, various treatment rooms for both individuals and couples, and a range of holistic treatments and rejuvenation programs.
Dining at The Alpina Gstaad draws upon authentic Swiss traditions in food and wine combined with modernist cooking techniques and creative presentations. Every restaurant features a selection of signature dishes and tasting menus, alongside some all-time classics. Besides our Swiss Stübli restaurant, The Alpina Gstaad welcomed the MEGU restaurant : a modern Japanese cuisine which introduces a new style of dining to Gstaad! The restaurant’s design by award-winning decorator Noé Duchafour-Lawrence is inspired by Japanese houses, temples and antique kimonos, with accents of vermillion and antique fir wood. This all contributes to the elegant Japanese-Alpine ambience.
In June 2013, The Alpina Gstaad has been voted one of the “Best Holiday Hotels” in Switzerland by SonntagZeitung and has also triumphed, in November 2013, winning three prestigious awards at the European Hotel Design Awards, including “European Design Hotel of the Year”, “Interior Design of the Year – Lobby, Lounge and Public Areas” and “Interior Design of the Year – Bedrooms and Bathrooms”.
