The last auction sale at Christie’s International has taken place on the 11th of last November in Geneva celebrates 50 years of the series Rolex Daytona by putting forward by advancing 50 symbolic models of the Swiss brand of legend, in steel, but also in gold and diamond.

The price record of the 6239 model in steel, worn by Paul Newman en 1970 in the movie “La Carrera Mexicana” 1969 shows off the eternal craze that surrounds the Rolex Trademark. In stainless steel, this model revives the legend of Paul Newman. The actor and pilot, wearing regularly a Rolex Daytona, had inspired Rolex to conceive “Paul Newman dial”.
The major component of the sale is revealed: the majestic Rolex Daytona, made in 1974 for the Sultan of Oman Qaboos Bin Said Al Said is sold for 864 285 dollars. The one who is nicknamed “Arabian Night” is a unique model very appreciated by army forces worldwide.
The auction at International Christie’s Inerternational made a great tribute to Rolex and to the enthusiasts of car-racing by immortalizing the legend Daytona.
